Lunchtime liquid nose jobs are the new filler craze

October 2, 2019 by CarlFrascina

According to a cosmetic doctor patients are shunning surgical nose reshaping procedures in favour of a 15-minute liquid nose job.

Dr Naomi McCullum, founder of The Manse Clinic, says she’s seen a steep rise in enquiries and credits the procedure’s popular with the ability to “fix a flaw so quickly”.

She said: The treatment involves injecting filler into the nose to change its shape and costs around a tenth of the price of a full-blown rhinoplasty.

“It can be much more precise than a surgical rhinoplasty and is often used to improve defects after surgical rhinoplasty.

“It’s a different world to 10 years ago for the injectable industry because of social media.”

COSMETIC INJECTABLES – THE NEW PIP CRISIS WAITING TO HAPPEN?

May 2, 2019 by CarlFrascina

·      Pharmacist calls for industry regulation over how fillers are bought, sold and used in the UK

·      ‘Wild West’ epidemic inevitable unless changes are made from within the industry but needs consumer focus

·      PIP-style crisis waiting to happen, is the stark warning issued, with more corrections being carried out than ever

An online pharmacy has called for an urgent review on how cosmetic injectables are supplied to healthcare professionals – and in turn often vulnerable patients.

Regulation has not been achieved despite BAAPS efforts to regulate an industry often refereed to as ‘the Wild West’.

Springpharm, a UK based online pharmacy for healthcare professionals is championing a new way to regulate the industry – not by individual practitioners, but to (controversially) blow the lid on the supply chain servicing it.

Andrew Burr from Springpharm says there are 5 core areas that need addressing:

1.    Unqualified users

2.    Remote prescribing

3.    Cross contamination

4.    Parallel imports (storage and efficacy of products) and fake products

5.    Mislicenced products

Andrew believes addressing these five things can bring about safety for consumers undergoing cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatments, who are often being mistreated and misinformed

So what next?

Andrew says: “If we continue as an industry to ignore the elephant in the room we are effectively complicit in the next PIP style scandal. As history teaches us, healthcare professionals will not be held accountable – but ignorance is not an excuse.

“At Springpharm we have had enough and believe it’s time for a change. This new year we want new regulations to protect patients, but we want patients to protect themselves too by demanding change.”

In order to lead the injectables industry in changing its fundamental offerings, Springpharm has implemented measures for transparency:

– They have a two-tier prescription process in place to eliminate forged prescriptions for multiple use; this stops things like Botox parties in kitchens by removing the ability to use a prescription numerous times

– They only sell products to registered healthcare professionals

– The prescriptions are named for the patients specifically, not the doctor/nurse

So what can patients do to make themselves safer? Andrew suggestions they take the following steps:

– Firstly choose a reputable expert that’s regulated by an official body. Ask to see qualifications.

– Make sure your products has your name on the box; ask to see the label before treatment

– Check the intended use/licence for the specific product you’re offered; not all injectables can be used all over the face, as example.

– Ask where the product originated from

Words by Rosie Wilson

BTL’s fat-reduction system Vanquish has been awarded FDA clearance for reducing the circumference of the waistline. The patented technology, which is the only completely contactless inch loss device on the market, uses thermal energy blended with unique cooling technology to cause fat loss whilst protecting the skin and ensuring patient comfort.

Lifestyle Aesthetics Launch iRejuvenation

March 14, 2014 by Laura Casewell

10177782_xxlLifestyle Aesthetics have launched iRejuvenation, a secured, ergonomic and reliable solution to report, present and share patients cosmetic timeline from first injection through their ongoing treatment plan.

According to the Swindon-based company, iRejuvenation handles the entire cosmetic workflow, and patient consent, medical pictures, injection procedures, reporting and export of files are all integrated into one simple app. iRejuvenation allows accurate aesthetic procedures reporting within a few minutes.

A spokesperson for Lifestyle Aesthetics said the new download allows practitioners to establish a ‘cosmetic timeline’ for patients.

“Health authorities have emphasised the importance of traceability,” explained the spokesperson.

“The iRejuvenation Traceability Tool allows the precise recording of product injected. The cross search engine allows you to easily retrieve information stored. This can be searched by patient name, product’s name or the lot number.”

The iRejuvenation Compare Tool also allows medical professionals to show their patients the change in their faces over time.

“Bringing out the impact of cosmetic interventions will build patients loyalty as they can easily see how they have improved from the first treatment,” the spokesperson said.

This new application is a one off cost of £349.99 on the App store and the developers will be continually updating with new features and software – these will be completely free of charge to any professional who has purchased the App. They are only required to do an update.

“We are particularly excited about this new launch,” the spokesperson concluded.
