Cynosure’s PicoSure Receives Update

October 1, 2014 by Laura Casewell

Renowned for being the world’s most advanced technology for tattoo removal, PicoSure – the first safe and effective picosecond aesthetic laser – has become even stronger.

PicoSure, which delivers ultra-short pulse bursts of energy to the skin in trillionths of a second, has received a boost update, shortening the pulse duration even further from 700 to 550ps.

The development of the already super-short picosecond pulse see’s a 70% increase in the pressure wave of PicoSure Boost, shattering the ink into tiny particles making it easier to now eliminate the most persistent ink. Users of the PicoSure machines are currently receiving upgraded boost technology. PicoBoost makes for faster and effective removal.

You can visit Cynosure at the CCR Expo Oct 10-11th 2014

Apogee (Cynosure)

August 27, 2013 by CarlFrascina

What is it?cynosureapogee

A standalone Alexandrite system for hair removal, pigmented lesions, sun spots and freckles.

What treatment/s is it for?

Hair Reduction, Energy Assisted, Skin Rejuvination – Energy Assisted

What does it do?

The Cynosure Apogee Elite contains two laser systems – a 755 nm Alexandrite laser and a high powered 1064 Nd:YAG laser.

By providing two different wavelengths, the Apogee Elite laser can be used to treat patients with all types of skin. The addition of the YAG laser allows us to treat patients of darker skin types for excessive hair growth, especially of the face, arm pits and bikini lines.

Patients with pseudofolliculitis (razor bumps) on the beard, face or neck now have this option to consider. When used for hair removal, the Apogee Elite laser affects only hair follicles which are currently active or growing (anagen), thus subsequent treatments may be required to eliminate the previously exhausted (catagen) or resting (telogen) follicles as they resume production.

Hair removal treatments are relatively painless and leave no textural skin changes or the scarring commonly seen with needle electrolysis. The Apogee laser also incorporates the use of the Smart Cool system by Cynosure. This system utilizes a “double cooling” technique which uses the body’s natural cooling process in conjunction with a specifically engineered external cooling system. The Smart Cool system is used with the laser to minimize patient discomfort during treatment.

What treatment/s is it for?

Skin Resurfacing, Energy Assisted Skin Rejuvenation, Energy Assisted Skin Tightening, Energy Assisted

What does it do?

By uniquely combining three leading-edge technologies, the Affirm offers you a total skin rejuvenation system that targets all layers of photo damaged and aged skin. Using 1440-nm CAP technology, the Affirm targets superficial layers of photo damaged tissue. By delivering approximately 1,000 diffractive micro-pulses in a 10-mm spot, CAP technology provides greater pattern density and requires fewer passes over a given area than competitive offerings, resulting in significantly faster treatment sessions.

The absence of pre-treatment topical dyes also results in faster sessions. Affirm offers a complete skin rejuvenation solution that provides better and faster results with less pain than any other available product.

Affinity (Cynosure)

August 27, 2013 by CarlFrascina

What is it?cynosureaffinity

A Q-Switched Nd:Yag laser that treats multi-coloured tattoos and pigmented lesions.

What treatment/s is it for?

Tattoo Removal, Skin Rejuvenation, Energy Assisted

What does it do?

The Affinity QS is a high-powered, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser that offers the most effective wavelength for treating multi-color tattoos and pigmented lesions: the 1064-nm wavelength or the 532-nm wavelength. The 1064-nm wavelength is ideal for treating darker tattoos and dermal pigmented lesions, such as nevus of Ota or nevus of Ito.

The 532-nm wavelength treats red-colored tattoos and epidermal pigmented lesions, such as solar lentigines. The Affinity’s various spot sizes, coupled with high repetition rates, allow for fast lesion and tattoo treatment.

Patients can expect a small amount of redness and swelling, but this will reduce fairly quickly. There is very little to no risk of scarring from treatments using the Accolade as the skin is not heated up to any great degree. According to Cynosure, the Affinity laser treatment only takes about 20 minutes, though multiple treatment sessions may be needed to be fully satisfied with your results.

Downtime is minimal with Affinity laser treatment, though you should consult with your physician to understand your post-care instructions and when follow-up treatments should be scheduled. For tattoo removal, multiple treatment sessions are usually necessary and will need to be spaced out over 6 to 8 weeks.
