Between heavy makeup, spirit gum, latex prosthetics and a late night out, Halloween is genuinely tough on skin — and the aftermath is a predictable spike in dullness, congestion and irritation every late October.
Before: prepping skin that has to wear a costume all night
Skin that’s already dealing with large pores or dull texture tends to show heavy makeup less kindly — a resurfacing treatment such as Clear + Brilliant in the weeks beforehand can genuinely improve how skin looks under costume makeup, not just how it looks bare.
After: recovering from adhesives, paint and pigment
Prosthetic adhesives and heavy pigmented makeup can leave skin congested, irritated or temporarily patchy — pigmentation that lingers longer than expected, or a general dull, tired look, both respond well to the same resurfacing approach used to prep in the first place.
When it’s more than a one-night reaction
Occasionally what looks like post-Halloween irritation is actually melasma or a genuine fine lines and wrinkles concern that heavy makeup has simply made more visible — worth a proper assessment rather than assuming it will fade on its own.
Getting it looked at properly
If skin hasn’t settled back to normal within a week or two, find a Clear + Brilliant clinic rather than layering more products on top of an already irritated barrier.
