What does it do?
The Affinity QS is a high-powered, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser that offers the most effective wavelength for treating multi-color tattoos and pigmented lesions: the 1064-nm wavelength or the 532-nm wavelength. The 1064-nm wavelength is ideal for treating darker tattoos and dermal pigmented lesions, such as nevus of Ota or nevus of Ito.
The 532-nm wavelength treats red-colored tattoos and epidermal pigmented lesions, such as solar lentigines. The Affinity’s various spot sizes, coupled with high repetition rates, allow for fast lesion and tattoo treatment.
Patients can expect a small amount of redness and swelling, but this will reduce fairly quickly. There is very little to no risk of scarring from treatments using the Accolade as the skin is not heated up to any great degree. According to Cynosure, the Affinity laser treatment only takes about 20 minutes, though multiple treatment sessions may be needed to be fully satisfied with your results.
Downtime is minimal with Affinity laser treatment, though you should consult with your physician to understand your post-care instructions and when follow-up treatments should be scheduled. For tattoo removal, multiple treatment sessions are usually necessary and will need to be spaced out over 6 to 8 weeks.
