Brazil has edged out the United States as the cosmetic capital of the world according to official figures released from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Almost 1.5 million Brazilians took to the knife in 2013, taking the title of cosmetic capital of the world from the US. Brazil are the world leaders in nips and tucks with 1,491,721 procedures being performed over the course of 2013, a leap of over 60% on previous year’s figures.
Venezuela, Brazil and Columbia leading the charge in procedures per capita people respectively. In terms of procedures Brazil topped was home to the most procedures with only breast augmentation (US) and penis enlargement (Germany) being the only categories where they failed to take the top spot.
