Love Island Lift: Show sparks rise in bum lifts

August 2, 2017 by CarlFrascina

Enquiries into skin firming Lipofirm Pro treatments TRIPLE thanks to the ITV2 show

Non-surgical bum lifts are on the rise as a result of TV’s Love Island, according to a top UK cosmetic clinic.

Perfect Skin Solutions, based in Portsmouth, says its seen THREE TIMES more enquiries into the bum lifting and skin firming treatment Lipofirm Pro since the popular dating show hit the air this year.

Offering results in just 30-minutes, the ‘Love Island Lift’ is proving popular with young women keen to emulate their favourite female stars from the show, who spent most episodes showcasing their pert bottoms in colourful bikinis.

Dr Dev Patel Dr. Dev Patel, Medical Director and Cosmetic Doctor at Perfect Skin Solutions, says the Love Island Lift – as it’s been humorlessly coined at the aesthetics clinic – is currently one of the most requested non-surgical body contouring treatments and is down to the show’s bikini-sporting stars, like winner Amber Davies.

“There’s no doubt this TV show is behind the surge in women requesting skin firming and bum lift treatments. Since the start of the show in June the clinic has seen increasingly more enquiries for our Lipofirm Pro treatment, so much so we’ve named it the Love Island Lift. In just half an hour we can firm skin and lift the bottom, making it ideal for pre-holiday beautification,” says Dr Dev Patel.

So how does the Love Island Lift work?

Already loved by celebrities including Katie Price and Kerry Katona, the Lipofirm Pro bum lift uses two patented technologies which work synergistically in reducing fat and giving a lift/skin tightening effect to the buttocks; TriLipo with Dynamic Muscle Activation and TriPollar Radio-Frequency. The device from AES is totally non surgical, there’s zero recover time, and most patients can see a lifted result after the first session.

Dr Patel continues: “TriLipo technology has certainly got industry professionals and clients equally excited, particularly in relation to bum lifts. Usually to achieve a good non-surgical lift, one needs to address any pockets of excess fat but also redundant skin. Lipofirm Pro helps with this aim by reducing fat; the heating of the dermis then results in collagen fibres contracting and giving a tightening and lifting effect to the butt. The heat also stimulates fibroblasts (cells that make collagen) into working harder to produce new collagen. New collagen means healthier, fresher and tighter skin, so you could be bikini ready in no time – and it’s all thanks to the Love Island Lift.”

6518921_xxlAfter a thorough medical consultation with a suitably trained and qualified professional photographs and measurements would be taken to give a clear picture of the starting point. Lifestyle advice should also be provided at this point. Once comfortable on the treatment couch, treatment can commence.

This is a painless and relatively quick procedure as both patented technologies are delivered simultaneously via the same on skin applicator. A ‘deep circular motion’ technique is used so although it should be painless, I would say it is not as relaxing as a spa facial but at least you might shed an inch or two!

Other benefits of this treatment over other non-surgical methods are that more than one area can be treated at the same appointment and weekly treatments can be performed, thus making overall treatment time shorter.

Study: Vanquish ME Device from BTL Aesthetics Reduces 53% More Fat

December 8, 2016 by CarlFrascina

Clinicals Show Patients Lost One-Quarter Liquid Gallon of Fat, on Average, with BTL Vanquish ME

BTL Aesthetics has announced the release of a clinical evaluation proving that its BTL Vanquish ME device was effectively redesigned for more efficient, predictable and homogenous energy delivery to the targeted tissue.

The result is significantly better outcomes in abdominal fat thickness reduction, 53% higher, with BTL Vanquish ME versus BTL Vanquish.

BTL Vanquish launched in 2013, was a breakthrough device for non-invasive fat reduction. The commitment to an innovative approach quickly resulted in the development of BTL Vanquish ME (Maximum Energy), which debuted in 2015.

BTL Vanquish ME is a clinician-favoured fat reduction treatment that is FDA-cleared for the circumferential reduction of the abdomen and thighs. The treatment was also recently shown, in a peer-review study published in the Journal of Drugs and Dermatology, that it treats more fat faster—and over a much larger area—than its competitors on the market.

They are the only radiofrequency devices on the UK aesthetic market that allow for non-contact, hands-free treatment of subcutaneous fat.

The multi-centre study, conducted by Drs. Nicole Hayre, Peter Jenkin and Melanie Palm in the US, sought to compare clinical outcomes of a non-invasive selective radiofrequency (RF) field device (BTL Vanquish ME) with its predecessor (BTL Vanquish).

A total of 36 subjects with BMIs under 30 but above 24, were randomly assigned to be treated in Group A (BTL Vanquish ME) or Group B (Vanquish) to obtain a side-by-side comparison of the devices’ efficacies. Each subject received four, once-weekly, 45-minute treatments with their group’s determined device. Measurements of subjects’ abdominal fat were taken prior to the first treatment and again four weeks after finishing the final treatment.

Subjects had also been instructed to maintain their usual diet and lifestyle throughout the duration of the study.

Abdominal fat layer thickness reduction at 30 days post treatment was the primary outcome measurement in the study as measured by ultrasound. The degree in fat layer thickness between Group A and B was statistically significant (p<0.008), and data showed that fat for Group A (BTL Vanquish ME) and Group B (BTL Vanquish) was reduced by 29.5% and 15.2%, respectively.

That represents a 53% higher reduction of abdominal fat layer thickness with Group A than for those in Group B. Every subject in the study showed a reduction in the abdominal fat layer thickness.

–       Group A: Reduction ranged from 2.0 to 6.6 mm (average of 4.17 ±1.42 mm)

–       Group B: Reduction ranged from .07 to 10.4 mm (average of 2.72 ± 2.21 mm)

The standard deviation of ultrasound measurements in Groups A and B were 1.42 mm and 2.21 mm, respectively—and this reduction in standard deviation of fat reduction measurements in Group A vs Group B is evidence that the BTL Vanquish ME™ provides more consistent performance.

Finally, using the measured reduction in fat layer thickness and the treatment surface area of the applicator (2100 cm2or 325.5 square inches), a reduction of 0.876 liter (0.23 liquid gallon) and 0.571 liter (0.15 liquid gallon) of fat were calculated for Groups A and B, respectively. (Volume lost = fat layer thickness reduction x effective area or spot size of the applicator (2100 cm2; 325.5 square inches).

Further speaking to its uniqueness in the market, the BTL Vanquish ME device holds three patents: One, granted in 2013, protects the non-contact method of adipose tissue treatment.

The second, issued in September 2016, is for the feedback power control device for non-invasive treatment of skin and human tissue.

The third—issued in October—refers to a new method for treating subcutaneous tissue that positions one or more applicators adjacent to the skin of a patient, but not touching the skin or in need of continual movement by the applicator. These applicators, which transmit electromagnetic energy into the skin where it can be used for subcutaneous tissue treatment, may also be used for tightening the skin and for remodelling collagen tissue in the subcutaneous tissue.

Additionally, airflow can be provided between the applicator and the skin by positioning an air mover (attached or made part of the applicator) close to the skin.

“We are committed to providing our physician network and their patients with the most highly-advanced devices on the market,” said Lee Boulderstone of BTL Aesthetics UK.

“These clinical results, showing that our smartly-designed, next-generation device outperformed its predecessor, really speak to BTL Aesthetics’ innovative approach and entrepreneurial spirit.”

The Clooney Effect: Surge in Couples Seeking Pre-Wedding Makeovers

October 22, 2014 by Laura Casewell

A top London clinic that specialises in non-surgical cosmetic treatments has reported a rise in couples seeking pre-wedding makeovers after 53-year-old George Clooney and his bride Amal tied the knot.

The official wedding snaps have reportedly had brides-to-be asking for a flat stomach like Amal and grooms wanting smooth skin like George, according to cosmetic doctor, Dr Ohan Ohanes, from Swiss Care Clinic.

“Since the Clooney wedding hit the covers of magazines and newspapers across the UK we’ve had enquiries about body contouring and anti-ageing skin treatments,” explains skin expert Dr Ohanes.

“Patients were asking for ‘the Amal look’ but soon we started receiving a high number of enquiries from couples looking to emulate both of the Clooney’s flawless appearances,” he says.

The cosmetic doctor, who says the London clinic has seen a 150% rise in couples looking into non-surgical treatments like body contouring and dermal fillers, says his patients have actually stated George and Amal as their pre-marital makeover inspiration.

shutterstock_25442695“We’ve had patients turn up at the clinic clutching the wedding photographs of the Clooney’s,” he reveals.

“Once you start getting enquiries from couples asking for treatments that emulate the look of a celebrity pair, there’s no doubt a trend is forming.”

According to Dr Ohanes, his female patients are choosing non-surgical fat reduction treatments to get Amal’s arms and flat tum, while gorgeous George’s smooth firm skin is appealing to the men.

“So far we’ve had couples choosing his-and-hers Exilis Elite fat reduction to shrink and sculpt certain body parts, especially the stomach,” he explains.

“We’re finding the grooms are more interested in anti-ageing facial treatments, which is something we usually associate with our female patients more.”

The Clooney Effect has swept the rest of the beauty world too, as Amal-inspired make up tips and hair tutorials based on her wedding style continue to take over the UK media.

“I’ve never seen anything like it to be honest,” Dr Ohanes concludes.

“We’ve had more couples enquiring about injectables and body shaping after the Clooney wedding than I ever had about Kim Kardashian and her enviable curves.”

Swiss Care Clinic is based in Palmers Green in London and specialises in non-surgical procedures and anti-ageing treatments.

Nuriss Invests £300,000 in Advanced Treatments

October 15, 2014 by Laura Casewell

A new ‘uber clinic’ is set to open on Wimpole Street this November, with its founder calling it a ‘one stop shop’ for all p6813508_xxlatient skincare and healthcare needs.

Founded by Dr Anita Sturnham, Nuriss will offer the latest advanced facial and body treatments, including Exilis Elite. Having just invested in £300,000 worth of technology, Nuriss is aiming to be the centre for the most sought after treatments in London, including non-surgical body contouring and radiofrequency skin tightening.

Skin specialist and TV doctor Dr Sturnham believes that to achieve outer beauty the patient needs to first ensure inner wellness; the very ethos that the clinic follows. This unique combination, Anita says, allows her team to provide a specialist medical assessment, looking not just at skincare but also at total wellness.

Anita, an ambassador for Unilever Skin Care, says: “It’s well known that the skin can often reflect inner health and well being. Total wellness is the aim for all of our clients at Nuriss clinics.”

An experienced GP and a medical expert for Superdrug, Dr Sturnham provides health advice on television shows such as The Alan Titchmarsh Show and Embarrassing Bodies.

“We believe that our patients deserve the best. That’s why every single Nuriss treatment has been tried, tested and perfected,” Dr Sturnham explains.

“From frown line reducing muscle relaxing injections and dermal fillers, to replacing lost volume with non-surgical radiofrequency and ultrasound body contouring and skin tightening treatments, we know that patients will love the results,” she concludes.

Nuriss Skin Care at Wellness Centre will be opening at 48 Wimpole Street in November. For more information visit www.nuriss.co.uk or call 0845 2613716

National Body Contouring Surgery Guide Launched

October 8, 2014 by Laura Casewell

11040555_xxlA new body contouring commissioning guide, which aims to address variation across England in provision and quality of body contouring surgery for patients who have undergone massive weight loss, has been launched by the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS).

According to the societies, the guide was developed in response to research which shows inconsistency in the provision of body contouring surgery across the country. A study of 67 primary care trusts in England showed that 23 excluded any reference to body contouring procedures.

Even where guidance is in place, recommendations can vary dramatically. It has been revealed that 38% of patients who were approved in Scotland for body contouring surgery would not have fulfilled the criteria used in Leeds.

The studies reveal that patients who have already received NHS funding for a gastric band or other form of bariatric surgery then find it very difficult to get body contouring surgery after their weight loss. In addition, access to body contouring surgery is even harder for patients who have lost the weight naturally, through diet/exercise alone (10-30%). This is because they do not have the support of bariatric multi-disciplinary teams.

The new guide addresses variation in provision and quality of care – whilst also helping to make most appropriate use of resources – by providing clear criteria for commissioning body contouring surgery and best practice information for healthcare professionals. This includes a quality checklist for multidisciplinary teams to follow through every step of the procedure. The guide concludes with future recommendations, including the development of a compulsory register of operations and complications to enable the best outcomes for patients.

Research has shown that patients who undergo reconstructive body contouring plastic surgery following massive weight loss experience significant improvements in their physical function, emotional wellbeing, body image satisfaction, physical wellbeing and quality of life.

Conversely, patients who aren’t able to access body contouring surgery following massive weight loss can suffer from a range of physical and psychological problems. In a recent study 92% of bariatric surgeons reported that patients experience functional problems relating to excess skin.

Psychological problems include stress, depression and low-self esteem. Patients unable to access body contouring surgery are also significantly more likely to regain weight, which can lead to health problems, such as diabetes, heart disease and mobility issues, with a resulting burden to the NHS.

Mark Soldin, BAPRAS specialist in body contouring surgery and consultant plastic surgeon said:

“I’ve seen many patients whose lives have been transformed through receiving body contouring reconstructive plastic surgery. However, there are many other people who, simply due to their postcode, are denied this procedure and are left to deal with the huge physical and psychological problems caused by excess skin.

“To qualify for this surgery patients need to demonstrate incredible weight loss and to show they have kept the weight off for a considerable period. However, the current ‘postcode lottery’ is unfair for the many patients up and down the country who have worked hard to change their lifestyles in order to meet the strict criteria. We are calling on commissioners and GPs to use this carefully researched, NICE accredited guidance to put an end to people living in limbo, and enable them to live healthy, happy lives.”

It is also hoped the guidance will be used to support GP referrals for patients requesting body contouring surgery by outlining clear criteria for patient assessment.

Paul O’ Flynn, Consultant ENT surgeon and Council Lead for commissioning at the Royal College of Surgeons, said:

“Research demonstrates significant improvements in patients’ emotional wellbeing and quality of life once they have undergone body contouring surgery, which is why it is critical that this guide is used by both commissioners and GPs to inform their referral decisions.

“We hope that this guide will help to create equality in provision of body contouring surgery for patients across England and stop unfair postcode lotteries which are denying patients desperately in need of treatment.”

Dr Parmar Pleased To See Vanquish Featured On TV

July 9, 2014 by Laura Casewell

iStock_000012153902XLargeIt seems the buzz around fat reduction using radiofrequency is growing as Vanquish – now available at Parmar Aesthetics – was featured on a high profile American TV show last month.

Several experts teamed up on ‘The Doctors’ to talk about Vanquish, the latest radio frequency body contouring device from BTL Aesthetics.

Dr Mitesh Parmar, owner of Parmar Aesthetics on Harley Street, said he believes the worldwide media coverage of Vanquish is all due to its unique technology.

“The results for the Vanquish speak for themselves,” Dr Parmar explained.

“I’m pleased to see the device is proving popular across the world, as in the UK we’ve seen some truly remarkable body contouring results. It’s the combination of quick and painless treatments and unrivalled levels of fat reduction for patients that make it unique.”

Because the Vanquish is responsive to the body, it doesn’t hurt or damage the skin. While it’s not an entirely suitable substitute for diet and exercise, it’s great for people who are working out and trying to change their body shape, but still have stubborn areas of fat – particularly around their tummy.

The stomach is known for being a tricky area to tone, with fat pockets hiding the muscles from the surface of the tummy, and the Vanquish can help reduce the fatty deposits and even tighten the skin. The result is a contoured, flatter stomach – but Dr Parmar is keen to point out this treatment also work on the thighs and flanks.

“While the Vanquish is unquestionably effect for giving patient’s a flatter, less fatty belly area, the device is also used to reduce the fat and contour the thighs. It’s also producing some extremely good results on love handles, a problem for many men and women, regardless of how much exercise they do.”

According to Dr Parmar, patients call the treatment ‘painless and pleasantly warm’ and see visible results after 4 sessions.

If you’d like more information on contouring the body using energy-assisted treatments like Vanquish, book a consultation at Parmar Aesthetics. Treatment times and sessions required depend on the area to be treated, and you will have your experience with Vanquish tailored specifically to your needs.

Exilis Comes To Kent

July 9, 2014 by Laura Casewell

An aesthetics clinic in Canterbury is now offering state of the art cosmetic and aesthetic procedures, popular with the rich and famous, to Kent.

The owners of The Canterbury Skin and Laser Clinic have invested in the latest high tech non-surgical fat busting and skin tightening treatments, aiming to bring a little glitz and glamour to Kent without patients having to go under the knife.

Husband and wife team Drs Mark and Alice Hudson-Peacock, Directors of The Canterbury Skin and Laser Clinic, say the private clinic is thrilled to offer the effective non-invasive treatments – similar to those favourited by Hollywood darlings including Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston – as they know the importance of looking good and feeling great.

“We’re so pleased to be bringing something different to the local area,” says Dr Mark, who met wife Alice during their medical school training in the University of Wales College of Medicine.

APSARAS1“Hollywood trends always make their way over to the UK, and the team at The Canterbury Skin and Laser Clinic – all leading skin specialists – are proud to be the first clinic in the area to be treating our patients with devices like Exilis Elite, which uses radio frequency energy rather than scalpels.”

Explaining what treatments the Exilis Elite can offer, Consultant Dermatologist Dr Mark says this unique machine can both contour the body and tighten the skin.

“Exilis offers a 2-in-1 treatment, meaning the machine itself can get rid of stubborn fat pockets anywhere on the body, and also tighten the skin on the face. You can tone up your tummy and shrink that sagging neck using the same device.”

Claiming radiofrequency machines are replacing traditional surgery, Dr Mark says he can see why Hollywood’s famous faces are replacing facelifts and liposuction in favour of energy-assisted treatments.

“Our patients love the natural results. The treatments are simple but effective, providing fantastic changes to the body and face without the pain, recovery and knives that go alongside surgical anti-ageing and body sculpting treatments. We want all of our patients to feel like Hollywood royalty, and with Exilis Elite we’ve found the answer.”

Dr Mark established his private dermatological and laser practice at The Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury in 1996 before expanding into the Spencer Wing at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. With the practice continuing to grow as demand for skin and cosmetic treatments increased, the couple acquired a building in Castle Street in Canterbury, which continues to offer accomfortable environment in which to provide modern and comprehensive skin care, unique to this part of Kent.

This now well established clinic continues to be the only specialist Dermatology and Laser clinic in East Kent, which combined with the couple’s forward-thinking business sense, makes it a popular destination for patient’s in the south.

“We’re always investing in the latest and best treatments from across the world to make sure the local community can look and feel fabulous without leaving Kent,” Dr Alice says.

Top US Plastic Surgeon Says Vanquish Fat Removal Technology Is ‘a Breakthrough’.

December 19, 2013 by Laura Casewell

5709702_xxlDr. Nicholas Sieveking, a board-certified Nashville plastic surgeon, said he was honoured to be part of the first group of plastic surgeons in the USA to offer Vanquish, one of the latest advances in non-surgical fat reduction treatment.

The expert called the non-invasive procedure a game changer, as ‘it is the only technology of its kind to provide relatively quick, comfortable treatment and long-term results.’
Dr. Sieveking calls this technology ‘exciting’ because it has been created to successfully eliminate a larger amount of fat than any other non-surgical fat reduction technology before it. He says it can be a great option for patients who would like to eliminate excess fat from their waistlines that has been resistant to diet and exercise, with the added benefit of no surgery, scarring, or excessive downtime.

Dr. Sieveking notes that Vanquish is typically used to treat the abdomen, hips, and back.

Syneron Medical completes clinical study for the UltraShape Contour I System

October 21, 2013 by Laura Casewell

APSARASSyneron Medical Ltd, a global market leader in the aesthetic medical device marketplace, announced that it has completed the multi-site clinical study for the UltraShape Contour I System for non-invasive abdominal circumferential reduction.

The Contour I is designed to use the mechanical effects of ultrasound to disrupt fat cells non-invasively. It achieves this effect without any significant heating of the target or adjacent tissue, minimizing any impact on blood vessels, nerves, and muscle tissue outside the target area. The Contour I also provides an automatic guidance system that adjusts for patient movement for enhanced user convenience and for a high degree of safety.

In the randomized, controlled clinical study of the Contour I, which was performed in 3 clinical sites in the U.S. and one site outside the U.S., a total of 150 subjects were treated and followed-up for up to 4 months. In this multi-site study, an average abdominal circumference reduction of 2.4-3.5 cm was demonstrated. The results successfully met the primary hypothesis for clinically significant circumference reduction. Furthermore, the results demonstrated progressive improvement over time in circumference reduction, beginning after the first treatment session. No serious adverse events related to the device were reported. The treatment was administered without the need for anesthetic and was well tolerated by patients.

The Contour I received the CE mark in 2005 and is marketed in European countries, Canada, Australia, Israel, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Hong Kong, Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Singapore, Taiwan, South Africa and Thailand. The Contour I has been used in 220,000 procedures worldwide, with a positive safety and effectiveness profile.
