The Harley Street establishment has created MATA, the Medical and Aesthetic Training Academy, which will open in March 2015.
The training course claims to be unlike any before it, as it places precedence on practical based learning. Theory classes will be undertaken in an interactive, e-learning environment. Models will be utilised for practical training, and the Royal College of Surgeons has also authorised the use of cadavers by the trainees.

The MATA will cover a comprehensive range of courses, from the basics through to the full University MSc. The Juvea-based courses will welcome students from across the globe, with predicted attendance currently at 1000 per annum.

Dr. Zavahir, the Medical Director for the project, said:

“Medical Aesthetics is a field which is growing rapidly and therefore a competitive industry. MATA is in place to ensure that all health care professionals in this arena are trained to the highest standards in aesthetics, with an emphasis on the quality of the teaching and ultimately the safety of future patients. Regular training is vital, not just for those starting out in their careers but also to ensure that practitioners retain their skills and deliver optimum results.”

“The team and I are really excited about the launch of MATA courses early next year, as it will be based on the recommendations following the Keogh Report, our independent review of the regulation of cosmetic interventions, which truly is the future of the cosmetic medicine industry. We are thrilled to have on board world-class specialists and key opinion leaders from the aesthetics world to offer a hands-on approach to training practitioners to a high degree. In addition, we have gained sponsorship from well-known and well-respected brands of laser equipment and medical supplies who are as excited as we are to be working on something unique and revolutionary.”

“MATA will be set apart from the other training academies out there as we have a standardised accreditation system in place, rather than simply a certificate of attendance. It will be great for my Harley Street clinic, Juvea Aesthetics, as our future aesthetic practitioners will have a fantastic, solid background and training in all treatments and procedures.”
