What is it?
A Q-Switched Alexandrite laser for the removal of pigmented lesions and mutli-coloured tattoos.
What does it do?
The Accolade is a high-powered, Q-switched Alexandrite laser that provides fast treatment for removing benign epidermal and dermal pigmented lesions, such as freckles, Acquired Dermal Melanocytosis, Nevus of Ota and multicoloured tattoos.
A fiber delivered high-powered Q-switched pulse is available through a variety of spot sizes; small spot sizes for high fluenc treatment of dermal pigmented lesions and tattoos, medium spot sizes for efficient treatment of tattoos and epidermal pigmented lesions and large spot sizes for low fluenc treatments for larger areas of the skin with pigmentation.
With a high-powered Q-switched Alexandrite laser, the Accolade is ideal for treating a full spectrum of benign pigmented lesions – from solar lentigines, Acquired Dermal Melanocytosis, Nevus of Ota and Nevus of Ito to the common freckle.
Acquired Dermal Melanocytosis is typically found in most people with bilateral grey-brown skin blemishes and develops after the age of twenty.
The Accolade also treats black, blue, brown and, unlike other lasers, green tattoos. The Accolade’s various spot sizes, coupled with high repetition rates, allow for fast lesion and tattoo treatment. Patients can expect a small amount of redness and swelling, but this will reduce fairly quickly. There is very little to no risk of scarring from treatments using the Accolade as the skin is not heated up to any great degree. According to Cynosure, the Accolade laser treatment only takes about 20 minutes, though multiple treatment sessions may be needed to be fully satisfied with your results. Downtime is minimal with Accolade laser treatment, though you should consult with your physician to understand your post-care instructions and when follow-up treatments should be scheduled. For tattoo removal, multiple treatment sessions are usually necessary and will need to be spaced out over 6 to 8 weeks.
