Industry Insider: Dr Thevendra from APSARAS Clinic, Coventry

October 6, 2014 by Laura Casewell

Each issue we bring you some of the top UK cosmetic and aesthetics experts to reveal the treatments and products they trust. This month The Harley Street Journal speaks to Dr S. Thevendra, a Cosmetic Doctor from Coventry, who believes the key to offering patients the best anti-ageing results lies in providing treatments you can trust. We meet with the facial rejuvenation specialist and learn more about Silhouette Soft; a treatment he claims has transformed his private clinic.

THSJ: What is SILHOUETTE SOFT®?

Dr T: It’s a fairly new technology with a double lifting and regenerating effect, through the action of re-¬‐absorbable sutures with bidirectional cones. Originating from the USA, Silhouette Soft® was developed on the back of six years of experience in the use of suspension sutures with cones in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. It‘s made of polylactic and glycolic acids.

THSJ: Interesting concept. So how does it work?

Dr T: Essentially it has two actions. Initially, there’s a lift action for immediate yet discreet results. As soon as the treatment is carried out, the physician is able to redefine the focused area by compressing and lifting the tissue thanks to the bidirectional and re-absorbable cones. Secondly, there’s a volume action for gradual and natural results. Re‐absorption of the filament component, polylactic acid, helps skin boost its natural collagen, thus further redefining the feature being treated. SILHOUETTE SOFT® is the only product on the aesthetic market combining these two actions, which is why I’m so pleased to be able to offer it to my patients at APASRAS.

THSJ: What about the process?

Dr T: The procedure can be carried out in just thirty minutes, under local anesthetic, at my clinic. The treatment should only be administered by a physician trained on Silhouette Soft sutures, such as myself. One or more sutures can be necessary according to the area to be treated, but I always discuss this with my patients before hand during consultation. SILHOUETTE SOFT® can be used as a stand-¬alone treatment or in conjunction with fillers and botulinum toxin; another reason it’s made such a difference to my practice as I can offer it as a combination treatment.

THSJ: Which areas can patients have treated?
The ideal patient is 30 to 60 years old, without either excessively loose skin or severe ptosis. It’s a great treatment for facial contouring, so I see fantastic results in areas including the jaw line, cheeks and malar area. It can also improve the eyebrow and neck areas.

THSJ: It sounds like a really innovative procedure, wouldn’t you say?
Dr T: Absolutely, and best of all it’s a quick non-surgical treatment. The immediate but natural lift effect means that patients can return to their lives quickly, and as the procedure takes just 30 minutes at my clinic I can still treat a good number of patients. The components are entirely re‐absorbable too, something my patients are always impressed by, as well as the effects lasting up to 18 months. It’s transformed my clinic and offers outstanding results. I couldn’t really ask for more from a non-invasive anti-ageing treatment.
